It is Monday, 3.31.08 and it’s raining in Kyoto.
“Good thing we got so lucky with the rain!†Gorden keeps saying. I think it’s hilarious how funny they think that is.
Last night I introduced the Germans to KARAOKE, at first they were skeptical of how good it could be, but 18 beers, 4 hours and 20,000 yen later they were convinced otherwise. We woke this morning groggy and hung over in UNO House and left for breakfast around 10am. We found a Royal Host and planned the day from there.
By now, I’ve become a Kyoto Pro. 101 to Kinkakuji, 207 to Kitaoji bus terminal, Green line, change to the Red Line at Kurasama-Oike, off at Higashiyama, walk north to Heian Jingu, 101 to Kiyomizu-dera Michi walk up to the temple, down the cemetery side and catch the 207 downtown for a sushi dinner (or in the German’s case, all-you-can-eat Pizza at Shakey’s for the second day in a row) and subway to Kyoto station to Shink home (which is where I write this to you now).
Germans are pretty amazing. They’re incredibly direct and have no interest in fucking about. They’re pissed off at how many pictures I take, how long it takes, and how Japanese people get in their way when they walk. I think that the Japanese are extraordinarily courteous and wonderful, but apparently I’m wrong.

Europeans…. they are different from us colonials!
