It is 4.27.08 and it was humid in Tokyo.
JEANNINE IS HERE! We had a really wonderful time in Tokyo. Got up early and had some breakfast, walked to Yaukuni shrine, subway’d to Shibuya and hung around Yoyogi park and Harajuku and lastly took the train to Daiba and walked around the Harbour. We caught the shink home after picking up her gigantic luggage and I’m now waiting for a few friends to call to go out for drinks and a bite to eat tonight. We’re pretty beat, but Jeannine had a rough flight this time and she’s crashed out for a nap before going out tonight.

It is 4.26.08 and I’m about to see Jeannine!
I’m on the Hikari Shinkansen to Tokyo and so excited to see Jeannine. She just called from a payphone in Narita. She’s taking the express to Tokyo, and I’ll be meeting her there. I can’t remember when I’ve been so giddy.
Had lunch with Peter and Ayaka. I like them both more and more every time I hang out with them. Ayaka’s English is really improving since she’s started dating Peter, and Peter’s Japanese is getting slightly better. It’s really cool to see them really change as a result of being a couple. I hope I keep up with both of them after I leave Ham. Continue reading ‘Jeannine Arrives’
It is Phriday, 4.25.08 and it is Sunny.
I was really happy with today’s set of photos. I took my time, and shot both with the Holga and my 10-20. I’m feeling like I understand the Holga a bit better, but every time I think that I develop a roll and look at the negatives and they’re all shit or blurry. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s a worthwhile one I think. I’m really enjoying it. It’s interesting that I’m so nuts about photography now. A few years ago, I wouldn’t have even said it was an interest of mine, and I’d much rather play music and write songs, but I’ve barely touched the guitar I bought here since winter, when I had to stop playing at the station. I think I should take that up again. Continue reading ‘Nerves’
It is Thursday, 4.24.08 and I can’t stay in this fucking apartment for one more day.
It’s gross, I’m gross, and I think that’s how I can tell I’m feeling better; because I’m noticing it. Today I woke up late and talked to Jeannine and worked out most of the plan for meeting up at Tokyo Station, and the itinerary for Golden Week. I still need to find a place to stay on the 30th in Kumamoto… Continue reading ‘Sick Day 2′
It is 4.23.08 and it’s raining. I put my sweaty blanket out to dry in the sun earlier today, and now it’s wet with rain. Awesome.

My swelling isn’t going away fast enough. I’m feeling a bit better, but tomorrow I’m going to the hospital to see if my jaw is infected. I called in sick for tomorrow again too, I don’t feel like I could be very responsible of 12 6-year olds if I needed to be. I think my headaches are just from a lack of nutrition, and my exhaustion is just from the straight 30 hours of fever, but I’m mostly coming out of it now. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow. Continue reading ‘Sick Day’
It’s Tuesday 4.22.08 and it’s sunny.
I slept, or at least tried to sleep all day. I would wake up sweating one hour, and wake up freezing cold the next. It was really terrible. The good news is that I rediscovered 30 Rock, which is probably the funniest show I’ve ever seen. Or at east the funniest NBC self-referential-comdey-seen-while-fever-induced I’ve ever seen. I would marry Tina Fey if I wasn’t so tied down to Jeannine. ;) Maybe I’ll just settle for Tracey Morgan.
Werewolf Bar Mitzvah (30 Rock)
I was up at about 9am and had a bath. It was actually my first bath in this apartment, and it went fairly well. Continue reading ‘Bath, 30 Rock’
It is Monday, 4.21.08 and it is sunny and hot.
I wore shorts today and finished my 35mm roll by noon. I had it developed and they couldn’t print it, so for most of the evening I spent my time trying to figure out how to develop your own negatives with a scanner and GIMP. I think I’ll turn it in to a blog post. The Blue and Brown Books grows larger and more irrelevant and aim-less. After studying my 35’s I realize I’ve been shooting with the wrong bulb mode on. There is one 1/100 shutter speed and one ‘hold button down to stay open’ shutter speed. I’ve been shooting on the second mode and basically ruined most of my photos. Continue reading ‘Swollen’
