It is Sunday, 6.1.08 and it’s sunny.
I woke up at 2pm. It felt good to sleep so long, but I wasted my whole day. I thought I left my wallet at school yesterday and after taking the bus all the way there, not finding it and walking back the same way I biked home to see if I dropped it, I still couldn’t find it. It wasn’t until I was home again at about 5pm and checked my gym bag did I find it. Blargh. Checked email and made a few chess moves then got a text from Brent saying they’d be in Hamamatsu by 5:30. I got up and out of the apartment, still sleepy and feeling slightly hungover and tired to meet Peter, Brent and Sarah at the station.
We worked out where the show was going to be, and walked around to find a place to eat and drink before it began. Settling on Doma Doma I caught up to the others who had obviously been drinking/surfing for most of the day already and had my first meal of the day. We left the izakaya and headed to the show, once we found it, the bands and other kids started showing up. Brent kindly acted like the ticket-man stopping each one that tried to get by him and asking ‘kippu? kippu?’ (ticket).
Brent is an interesting fellow, totally balls-out kind of attitude in terms of meeting people in general. His Japanese isn’t great, but he’s not afraid to use what little he knows and can always, somehow, make it through a conversation. Peter’s been here almost 10 years now, and he is fluent, so he jumped in when Brent decided to talk to one of the band dudes about his tattoos. I asked him if he was allowed to go to the Onsen.
We went up and listened to some pretty decent punk. The Actionettes are led by Masami’s (Brent’s Fiance) sister, and we always try to make it to their shows when we can. I took a ton of pictures and most of them are unfocused, but I think it’s a nice representation of the evening.
Peter, by the end, was so drunk he couldn’t stand and he’s a large fellow. Sarah and I carried Peter back to the station stopping many many times for Peter to pee. He ended up just leaving his dick out while we walked him to the ticket machine and push him through the turnstyles.
I was trashed, but in bed by 11pm. I love Japan for that.

balls out indeed
The REAL Actionettes are a fantastic 60s dance troupe based in London which has been together for 10 years. Check them out at http://www.actionettes.com
Perhaps you should rethink your name, girls.
Interesting to see this band have stolen the name of a 1960s go-go troupe from London, formed in 2000 and still going strong! Naughty, naughty, girls. Get your own name!
@Jo & Dancing Doll
I doubt you should be concerned about a small indie band which mostly play Ramones covers and tour a total of 2 small japanese city venues. also, they don’t speak english.
i doubt very much that they’re trying to cash in on any name-thievery if that’s what you’re concerned with.
What’s in a name?
