Modern Classic

It is Wednesday 6.25.08 and it is hot and humid but it is also payday.

Today I woke up to Brian and we went to Royal Host at about 10am. It will be the last time I see him for probably a year at least. We’re both going to be busy (as we have been). We sat and talked for quite a while about things that relate and do not relate to Japan and marveled at the people that arrived in Nagoya that night almost one year ago. It was both enjoyable and awkward and interesting. The thing I miss most are people that know (or at least are interested in knowing and contributing to) what the fuck I talk about, and Brian on many occasions has proven to be one of them. We sat for almost 3 hours and it was really nice just to relax. Brian met his girlfriend Nue inside the gates and they were off to spend the last few days in Tokyo.

Speaking of Tokyo, I’ve been trying to plan some time to get out there to see Scott and Christopher in the next month, but things aren’t lining up. I have to try and organize it around some work issues. We’ll see, I’d really like to make it out this month to see Christpher one last time in Japan, but I can settle for just Scott in August if it must be. ;)

Went to the gym. I haven’t been for a few days as you might have noticed. Petar’s been canceling on me almost every day. It was good to get back in to the cardio, but I was tired from being up pretty late the night before. Taught my classes in Hamamatsu today (It’s so nice to ride my bike to work) and then prepped my demos for tomorrow. I should be a bit better prepared than last time. Took some photos on the way home, I’m really loving the point and shoot even though its dark and grainy. I GIMP them up a bit, and they seem to work pretty well. I’m mostly inspired by Daioru or “modern_classic” as he is known on Flickr. He is a bookstore owner in Tokyo (Jimbocho) and he’s a pretty amazing guy. Sometimes I think that (from the pictures he can take) he can both fly and is also invisible. His work is all done with a point and shoot and I believe is edited fairly heavily. Regardless, this shows some serious possibilities with a simple point and shoot, and he is consistently inspiring. I can’t remember how I found him from Flickr, whether through Chrispher’s contacts or Saya’s or maybe from comments, but he’s been so much fun to follow.

Home now and Petar just called, I’m going to meet him at the station to work on the demos for tomorrow and then we’ll (hopefully) play some Pixel Junk.

I love the above shot. It’s one of your best I think. Yes, I love it that much.
