It is Tuesday, 6.24.08 and it is hot and humid.
Got up nice and late, around 11am and talked to my sister Alex for about half an hour, and then Jeannine for about an hour. Seamus, our giant old-man dog, had explosive diarrhea last night. Gross. My god It’s going to be exciting to write all about my dogs when I’m home. I’ve realized that this Journal is getting quite boring, and is only really an account of recent events more than an examination of intricacies of living in Japan. It’s not so bad really, because there is reason for it. That being that I’m finding it much more comfortable now to be out of the house, and to not be so neurotic. …Well, I’m still neurotic, but I’m just alright with being neurotic in public. It is Monday, 6.23.08 and it is hot and humid and a bit rainy.
This morning I woke up and called Jeannine. She was doing really well, and had a nice weekend with Ronnie and Katie staying over at the house for the weekend. Ron is Brent’s brother, and their third brother Nick was over that evening as well. After I talked to Jeannine for a while, Ron and Nick came in entirely naked and said “Hey big guy” together, then proceeded to wrestle naked in front of the camera for a good 10 mins. It is Sunday, 6.22.08 and it is humid and raining.
Woke up around noon. Darnell called and reminded that we had agreed to go bowling with Yukiko. I was feeling like shit, but of course I went. Meeting them at the station at 2pm, Yukiko introduced us to her friend Mamiko, who turns out to work with Canada Chris in Toyohashi and she used to frequent the Shirpa and hang out with Brent. Small world. We had a great time, Yukiko and Darnell were of course very competitive and I was extremely hung over. A note for later blowing engagements: The crashing of bowling pins does not make a headache better, it actually makes it worse. Continue reading ‘Bowringu’
It is 6.21.08 and it is humid and raining.
I woke up late and talked to Jeannine briefly before heading to class in Iwata. I was running late and got there just in time to prep and be ready for my first class. During my hour break I took a walk through the rice fields near by and took some photos when the rain let up briefly. Taught my last classes for the day and took the train to Hamamatsu, jumped on the bike and went to Petar’s for the evening. Had dinner with Petar, Darnell, Rhonda and Masayo. We stayed there until about 3am and then decided that we should go to Karaoke. We didn’t end up leaving until 5am. I’m tired and don’t want to write anything more.
It is Friday (Phriday) 6.20.08 and it is humid and hot and raining.
It was so humid last ngiht I could barely sleep. I woke up late and got hold of Jeannine. I ate some rice and talked to her for a while. Went to the gym and ran for 20mins, showered and had lunch before catching the train to Iwata for my 4 class day. Busy busy. I can’t help but be excited to go home. Excited, but entirely petrified of what I’m supposed to be doing. I could just puke thinking about how I’m a real person now. I want to go back to school, because I figure that’s what I should be doing, but I’m really not sure why. I know that I want to spend a lot more time with Jeannine and work on the house, and that’s definitely exciting. With all of this thinking about home today, I realized how much I totally live here right now and how weird it is that I do. Continue reading ‘Petrified kind of Excited’
It is Thursday 6.19.08 and it is hot and humid. Still.
Woke up this morning and tried to get a hold of Jeannine, but when we finally got on Skype, she had company over and had to go. That made me pretty sad because I’m getting used to talking to her everyday. 2 months is still a long way away, but I’m confronted with my leaving every single day at work. All of this preliminary paper work has to be done before the end of my classes, and then once I’m down to my last month I have even more. Not to mention my visa extension being required. It’s a long way away still. Continue reading ‘Charmingu’
It is Wednesday 6.18.08 and it is a bit cooler in the morning, but then it gets really fucking humid in the afternoon.
Crawled out of the futon at about 9:30 and performed regular internet-checking operations. Petar sent me a text saying he’d be an hour later to meet me for the gym today. At the gym I saw 40 Japanese old people in downward dog pose. It was slightly hilarious. We worked on arms today and then ate lunch. They’ve changed the entire Royal Host menu again. I don’t mind so much, but I’m (as you might imagine) a bit committed to a routine. Continue reading ‘Downward Dog’
