It is 7.4.08 and it is hot and SUPER humid.

Weird. Today this summer’s ‘Roadtrip Mixtape’ came out from CBC3 and I remember burning it to a CD last summer for a roadtrip (I ended up not taking) to Calgary to pick up my Visa to go to Japan. Not only that but Japan’s humidity has returned in full force. I only wish I could have the last few weeks back. I’m such a complainer when it comes to heat. I woke up early, but Jeannine wasn’t around to chat. I met Rhonda at Royal Host and we sat and talked for a while about how different things will be for both of us a few months from now. She’ll be in Vietnam teaching, and I’ll be back home doing… stuff.

I took a nap, I’m totally exhausted lately, and woke up 2 hours later and Jeannine had called. We talked for a while and it made me feel a ton better. It always does. Showered and took the train to Iwata, grabbing a snack on the way, and prepped my classes. The way my schedule works out for this week, and with Summer School at the end of the month, this will be the last time I see these kids. I’m pretty bummed about that, but I think we had fun in our lessons and I got a whole bunch of nice notes and letters and origami from them.

The last lesson, a parent misunderstood the schedule and didn’t realize that class ended an hour earlier which left me to entertain this kid for an hour and fifteen minutes. It turned out to be okay because she watched my Nabe Atsu flash wallpaper for 15 minutes, listened to my iPod for 5, and then we played a few epic games of SUPER UNO. I beat her every single time. No remorse. Home now, I’m watching this video on facebook from a friend from highschool. In it, Matt Good, CanRock demigod is playing at the Burton Cummings Theatre (formerly, the much cooler ‘Walker Theatre’). The reason I recognized it as the Burt was from the handrails silhouetting against the performance on stage, and the angle in which its being shot. Wow. Fucking homesick much?
