Coma-like

It is 8.29.08 and I am so tired I want to fall over.

It’s like I’ve been in a coma for the last few days. My arrival (on the 26th) was great. Jeannine and my Mom, brother, Father and Kristin and Don came to pick me up. I was so out of it, Jeannine and I just went home. On the way I went to Burger King and got a fast-food veggie burger. Oh god I missed veggie burgers. I couldn’t finish it, or the giant drink that came with it. We went to sleep and I don’t remember waking up until the next day around 6pm when I went out with my Mom for Thai food. Leaving Japan

It is 8.26.08 and it is hot and humid in Kansai Airport.

Basically this thing is a gigantic metal and glass greenhouse. I’m cooking, but I found a plug at my departure gate. I’m excited and frantically typing and charging my ipod, loading it with as many new podcasts as I can download before I get caught using their electricity and wifi. Not that I would get caught? Move Out

It is 8.25.08 and I’m homeless sortof.

This morning I woke up at about 5am and packed up, seperated my garbage and cleaned for almost 4 hours. If it wasn’t for Petar who helped me take garbage out and vacuum it might have taken me another 2. It was a stressful morning, but my moveout when really well. Andrew came by to check me out and then we all went for some lunch at the SAGO indian place. I don’t like it as much as the himilayan, but it was good enough. I sent my last box home and took out some money to pay the last of my bills. We took a taxi to Petar’s and dropped off a bunch of stuff. Andrew took my second guitar and scanner home.

It doesn’t feel like I’m living here anymore already. I went back to my apartment to get my mail, and I couldn’t go up because I gave my keys to Andrew. It’s strange that it’s all so suddenly different and again I’m in transit. I wrapped up almost all of my loose ends and am now about to print out my e-ticket at the media cafe. It’s going to be a long night of being awkward and anxious. I plan on getting up really early tomorrow and delivering my letter to Royal Host, then I’ll be using the last day of my Juhachi Kippu to take the train to Kansai Airport. That’s about a 7 hour trip. I’m really not looking forward to it.

Jameru

It it 8.24.08 and it is cool and breezy in Hamamatsu.

Woke up around noon REALLY hung over. Last night was amazing. Brent, Masami, Norie, Peter, Chris, Sarah and several others went out for Karaoke in Toyohashi and I was so drunk I barely made the last train home. It was only because the train was 18mins late, I arrived on the platform just as it was about to leave. Lucky. Continue reading ‘Jameru’

Blur

It is 8.23.08 and it is cool and overcast with a slight breeze. It’s wonderful!

Up early, I met Kozue at Royal Host and we had a nice breakfast together. She helped me write a letter to the staff. I packed my scanner, but I’ll put it up somehow. We came back to my place and waited for Petar to come over and we moved my desk, desk chair, armchair, futon, shelving, etc. down and moved it to Petar’s building. I gave the desk to Darnell’s replacement Jaydee. She seemed pretty excited about it, but I felt bad because that fucking thing is HUGE. It only took 2 trips in Kozue’s tiny car and then I walked home. Continue reading ‘Blur’

Deja-Bu

It is 8.22.08 and it is hot and humid, but windy so not so humid.

Deja Vu. Busy day today. Woke up early and finished packing one of two boxes and wrapped my paintings. Paid bills, and then cleaned out my shelves. Practiced my setlist for the show on Sunday and I’m feeling pretty good about it. I hope it’s long enough. Met Petar for lunch at around 2pm and then we came back home to ship out all of the junk i’d been packing all day. Mayumi called out of the blue and she was just in the area and wondered if I wanted some help. She picked us up and she helped out with translating things at the post office. It was a major help, and I really lucked out with her calling. In total my shipping the paintings and one box cost about Y20,000 which is about $200 CAD. At least I won’t have to cart it on the train/airplane Tuesday. Continue reading ‘Deja-Bu’

Technique

It is 8.21.08 and it is windy and it makes the humidity much more bearable.

Woke up early and had breakfast at RH. Caught an 8am train to Yaizu which is just outside of Shizuoka. Participated in the last staff meeting of my time at the company and I made sure to say my goodbyes and invite people to my show on Sunday.  Train back to Hamamatsu, I had lunch with Petar and then trained to Kosai where Yukiko picked me up and drove me to school. She gave me a Nabe Atsu calculator and some pictures and a card. It was really nice and we chatted for a while until my classes started. I taught for an hour, had an hour break, then had my last class for the day. Continue reading ‘Technique’
